well you know maybe that makes this a purer DD than most, with this one there is no flipside, its the pure appreciation of good art, no person to bask in the attention or be annoyed by it.

Also maybe the reason for making something a DD is that that it should be shown to the community, and not to credit the artist. Its not as simple as: "This guy isn't even here, whats the point".

I am not arguing if the peice desurved the DD, just the artist, if they dont give a rip about DA or there art why should they be noticed? there are so many peolple out there who care deeply about DA, DA's comunity and even have amazing art, but have never gotten a DD. . . kinda unfair. . .

It doesn't matter how old the art is. It's just no one nominated it then or there were better art works. And the fact that YOU got to enjoy a wonderful piece is more important then some ass stroking his or her ego. Even if he were here all he'd say is 'thank you' and move on. And not everyone likes the attention. You have to think of this in a wide scale and not just weather or not this person knows that some one thinks his art is good. No doubt he already has enough of that from his friends.

well how can you appreciate someone's work that is almost an year old, and the guy doesn't even visit dA anymore. personally, i find it absurd because despite the POINT of a DD to show an AUDIENCE how awesome a piece of art is, it also has a flip side: that side is that the person making the art feels special, and in this case, noonew feels special...that person doesn't even KNOW they got a DD...

i dont want to get into the argument. thanx for that reply tho...had someting to do on dA at 7 pm

I think it's nicer to give DDs to people who can actually appreciate them, but hey, if it's cool art I'm not complaining. I'm here to see new, fun stuff, not elevate people to internet god-hood.

I know it kinda itches at you when you work soooo hard and don't get anything, and then someone who doesn't even know how lucky they are gets it instead. This is all over life, not just on dA. The best way to counter this I've found is to be proud of what you do yourself, without other people lifting you onto their shoulders. And if you do get lucky, be happy. Then people won't hate you as much.

The whole point of DD is to show other users a GOOD piece of art. If they deem it worthy then why should someone less deserving who's art is not as good be getting recognition just because they want it more? DD is for us to view other people's work, not for the artist to gloat.

I mean, shit, I have been here for over a year and have at least 50 peices and I have barely over 300 veiws and NEVER got a DD... what is so great about THIS?
